I totally lied in my last post. I didn’t post at all after that until now. I’m still not sure if I’m going to be back to blogging, but I think I’m going to make an effort.

I’m currently in the process of deciding between this blog (Ninjawa) and my other blog as my main blog. I’m leaning towards this one, just because it doesn’t have my name plastered to it. Anyone who knows me will immediately know that Ninjawa is mine, and it should be very easy to find. However, I think I’ll put that thin layer of anonymity over my blog.

Also, this blog will probably be a stream-of-consciousness type of blog. Just writing what’s on my mind. I’m not sure how much of what’s on my mind will end up here, though.

The summer plan

My summer’s off to a mixed start this year.

The good: I visited the Boy again in CA and had a great time. It may not have been as exciting as last summer (weekend trip to Catalina and hot air balloon ride among other things) but I had a lot of fun with a day at Disneyland, an afternoon trip to Catalina, and a day at the San Diego Zo0. We spent the rest of the time rowing, hanging out, doing stuff with computers, and watching movies. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

The bad: no job/internship as of yet. Most companies I talked to at the spring career fair weren’t hiring and the one company I interviewed with was only hiring one intern and hired a returning guy. I have an interview with a company on Monday, but I don’t know how that’ll turn out. A friend’s mom gave me a possible internship’s contact info, so I’ll need to email him.

Otherwise, while it’s nice to be away from classes, homework, and projects, I already miss RPI. That’s why the Boy and I have tentatively planned a trip to visit one of my roommates in VT and a crew friend in MA. Plus I have a camping trip with Ramsey friends planned, a bridal shower to attend, and a wedding to attend.

I hope the summer picks up pace a bit very soon, but we’ll see. I’ll just continue watching Firefly via Hulu Desktop for the time being.

End of hiatus?

After abandoning the whole blogging thing for a while, perhaps it’s time to start it back up again. I make no guarantees as to the frequency and/or quality of the posts, but it’s just something to do.

I jumped on the opportunity for a phone upgrade as soon as I realized I was eligible for one. The original plan was to get the LG enV2 at Best Buy (was on sale for $49.99 this week), but I started playing around with the LG Voyager and decided to get that instead.

So now I have a band new LG Voyager! I need to get the mail-in rebate out before I forget about it….

More broken/troubled electronics

I’ve been having even more electronics trouble since I got back from school. Everything works just fine when I’m up in Troy, but as soon as I venture back down into Jersey everything falls apart.

My 360 is still at the Microsoft repair center in Texas getting its disk drive replaced. I discovered a crack (although extremely minor and unnoticeable to anyone else) on my laptop, one of the boot files on my laptop got corrupted and wouldn’t let my laptop start up (I had to use a Vista disk to repair the file), and BitDefender’s real-time protection feature stopped working and when I reinstalled it the update feature wouldn’t work (although I fixed the issue a couple of hours ago). Now my VX Revolution’s scroll wheel won’t spin freely anymore due to too much love (the rubber on the scroll wheel appears to have gotten stretched out and is interfering with the spinning mechanism).

I wonder what other problems my electronics are going to give me this break… I’m rather sick of it all, though. Perhaps my phone with die again, just like exactly a year ago when the screen inverted itself (the screen showed a mirror image of everything, and the colors inverted so I was seeing everything in negative).

I hope everyone else is having better luck with their electronics this break.

Oh, and Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it (or kind of celebrate it, as is the case with my family).

I swear my house hates my electronics. Or my electronics hate my house.

I got home from school on Saturday with my laptop, 360, and my 500 GB external hard drive. Today my 360’s disk drive wouldn’t spin (it was just fine last night) and Fallout 3 kept crashing on my laptop (the backlight on my laptop died this past summer, rendering me lappy-less for a week). I bet my external hard drive is next.

I need to find things to do with my time now that I’m not going to have my 360 for 2-3 weeks while Microsoft replaces my disk drive for me. Good thing I didn’t go out to Blockbuster and rent a game yesterday. I’ll be sure to do that as soon as I get the 360 back, though.

But this means no playing Gears 2 with Chris over Live. I guess I’ll just have to rely on calling/texting/Skyping as modes of communication.

“’Cause I’m lame and crazy and eccentric all in one comfy, nerdy, yet strangely attractive package?” – Chris via text when we were talking about electronics (a hard drive and a mouse, specifically) and I told him I miss him.

Not sure about the lame part, but other than that it’s a very accurate statement.

Thanksgiving in MA, as always

Every year it’s the same routine: wake up around 8, shower, wander down to the kitchen to help with food prep, make stuff all morning, people start showing around noon, continue to prepare food as people pour in and socialize while snacking on munchies, and finally have Thanksgiving dinner (with a 26 lb. turkey this time) around 2 pm followed by dessert around 4. There are always some interesting people at this Thanksgiving gathering, from old friends to strangers. And they all have something to say.

After all the other guests leave, we finish cleaning up the place (the other guest help toward the end) and relax. At this point I’ am fighting the most intense food coma known to man and I need to somehow take a little nap, or I’ll fall asleep talking to someone. This year I decided to watch a crappy show on my lappy while texting the Boy. I would dose off in between texts and actually took a 20-min power nap at some point.

Now it’s 11 pm (9 hours after I had dinner) and I’m hungry again. I think I’ll eat some of that banana bread that I baked for this occasion.
